Cats have been the companion of choice by many for hundreds of years. These lovable animals have been showcased in films, book and plays. It’s not surprise, because cats think they are the boss. The following tips will help you care for, and live successfully with, your cat.
Don’t try using dog food or products for your cat. Cats will react very negatively to any products intended for dogs. Flea products are a prime example. Flea products meant for dogs can seriously harm or kill a cat. You need to separate your pets when you treat them for fleas.
Cats can really scratch up your home. If you find your cat tearing up things around your home, buy a scratching post or cat tower. Encourage them to scratch that instead. Sooner or later, they’ll love to use it.
Avoid letting your cat get bored. Play is important to the health and vitality of your cat. Unfortunately, many owners do not realize this important part of ownership. Cats that are frequently bored may develop OCD, depression or other harmful conditions. Spend time playing with them, and go through a variety of toys to find ones they like and will play with while you’re busy, too. Be sure your cat has something they can climb and something they can scratch if they stay inside.
The cat’s litter box should be placed in the right spot. It should not be placed in a high traffic area, and it should be far away from the cat’s food. Also be sure that the cat litter area is ventilated so the smell doesn’t linger. Your cat and you will appreciate it.
Cats tend to think that they are the ruler of everything. But, if you use what you have read here, you may be able to show your pet who the boss is supposed to be. The love of cats is a great one, so enjoy!
