To help your aging cat feel cozy, place a warmed tile under his bed. You can heat a terracotta tile in the oven at 200 degrees for about 15-20 minutes. Put the tile inside a towel and place it under the cat’s bedding. Change every few hours if you like.
Dog Products
Avoid using dog products on cats. Cats don’t like dog products. This warning applies to products for getting rid of fleas. Canine flea medications are strong and often made from a different formula than the feline version. They can cause death in cats. In fact, it is a good idea to separate your cat and dog for a few hours after your dog has taken flea medication.
Spraying the electrical cords in your home with a bitter apple solution helps keep the cats from chewing on them. If your cat happens to be a champion cord-chewer, you’ll need to use cord covers to protect your cords. You can hide away any cords inside the rolls that come inside paper towels. Electronics with thin cords must be put out of reach when they aren’t being used.

Cats are usually great for kids, but smaller kids may be too rough with them. Teach your children how to handle a cat. Litter Box
Don’t try to show your feline how to go in the litter box. Using the litter box is instinctual for cats, and they require no training. A lot of people think that rubbing a cat’s paws in its litter box may help them, but in reality, it can be damaging to them.
Help your cat get accustomed to the carrier. You cannot punish a cat the same way you would a dog. They prefer encouragement instead. Leave your cat carrier open and put a few special toys inside. Your cat will start to venture into their carrier more often, until they are completely comfortable with it. This will make getting the cat inside easier later.
You cat will not be likely to be a finicky eater if you vary the type of food you are feeding from time to time. If you raise your kitten with the same food for their entire life, this can become the only type of food they will willingly eat.
If you’re dealing with a cat that won’t use the litter box, you should place it somewhere else. A cat will be more inclined to use the litter box if it is placed in a quiet and safe area in your home. Basements, laundry rooms and other quiet spots are best.
Have your cat sport a collar that includes information regarding the owner’s name, address and telephone number. Even if your cat lives in the house, he could always get out. If this should happen, you will have a better chance of getting your cat back home.
Some foods are not permissible to serve to your cat. Refrain from serving onions or garlic, as these foods are too strong for your cat. These foods can make your cat very ill. Milk upsets a cat’s stomach, too.
Your cat will thank you if you avoid phenol in your cleaning products. Phenol is found in common products such as Pine-Sol, Lysol, and various other cleaners. Cats hate the smell of phenol, and for good reason. Long term exposure to it can cause cats to have live issues.
